Frequently Asked Questions
A quick guide to searching, filtering, and tracking your games in Questlog.
I can't find a game in Explore — how do I add it manually?
If a game isn't in Explore's RAWG results, go to My Shelf and click "+ Add a Game." This opens a manual entry form where you can type the title yourself, optionally paste an image URL, pick the platform(s), and set its status, rating, and notes. Click "Save Game" and it's added straight to your shelf, no RAWG match required.
How do I set my preferred platforms so Explore filters automatically?
Go to your account menu and open "Manage > Preferred Platforms" (Account/Manage/Platforms), click Edit, check the platforms you own, and hit Save. The next time you visit Explore, it will automatically show only games available on your preferred platforms, and you'll see a "Showing games for your preferred platforms" note at the top of the page.
How do I clear the preferred-platform filter and see all games?
When Explore is auto-filtering by your preferred platforms, click "Show all instead" next to the "Showing games for your preferred platforms" note. This clears the filter for that visit without changing your saved preferences.
How do I search for a specific game?
Use the search bar at the top of the page (next to the Questlog logo). Type a game's name and press Enter, or click the search icon. Your results replace the Explore grid, and an "✕" appears in the search bar so you can clear it.
How do the Filters work?
Click the "Filters" button above the game grid to open the filter panel. You can set a Minimum Metacritic Score (50+, 70+, 80+, or 90+), pick one or more Genres, and pick one or more Platforms, then click Apply. Active filters show up as small pills under the toolbar, each with its own ✕ to clear just that filter.
What's the difference between the preferred-platform auto-filter and manually picking platforms in Filters?
Your preferred platforms (set in Account > Manage > Preferred Platforms) are applied automatically whenever you land on Explore with no other platform filter chosen. If you manually pick platforms from the Filters panel instead, that manual choice takes over for that visit and is shown as a normal platform filter pill rather than the preferred-platforms banner.
How do I clear an active search or filter?
Each active search or filter shows as a pill (e.g. "Search: ...", "Genre: ...", "Platform: ...") beneath the Filters button — click the ✕ on a pill to remove just that filter, or open Filters and use the "Clear" option next to each section to reset it.
How do I add a game to My Shelf?
From Explore, find a game and use its card action to add it to your shelf. You can also go to My Shelf and click "+ Add a Game" to add one directly, choosing its title, platform, and status.
What do the shelf statuses mean?
My Shelf organizes games into five statuses: Wishlist (games you want), Backlog (owned, not started), Playing (in progress), Completed (finished), and Shelved (paused or set aside). Use the status buttons at the top of My Shelf to filter by one status or view All.
How do I edit or remove a game from my shelf?
On My Shelf, click "Edit Games" to switch into edit mode, where you can update a game's title, platforms, or status, or remove it from your shelf. Click "Done Editing" when you're finished.
What does the offline/demo-data banner mean?
If you see a banner saying RAWG is temporarily unreachable, Questlog is showing offline demo data instead of live results. Search, filters, and adding games to your shelf still work normally while offline data is shown; things return to live RAWG data automatically once the connection is restored.
Do I need an account to use Questlog?
You can browse and search Explore without logging in. Creating a free account lets you save games to My Shelf, track play status, and set preferred platforms so Explore filters automatically for you.
